Why the Man of God Is Hated

There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him. I Kings 22:8

Earlier in this chapter we find a conversation between Ahab King of Samaria and Jehoshaphat King of Judah. Israel had been divided by a brutal civil war and were now divided into two kingdoms.

These two kings were trying to decide on a plan to over take Ramothgilead. They gathered 400 prophets together and asked them what should be done. Like most of the modern day preachers they told them exactly what they wanted to hear. They told the kings that the Lord would deliver the Syrians into their hands. Jehoshaphat was not satisfied and asked if there was another prophet to enquire of.

Ahab said yes there is one named Micaiah, but I hate him. He hated this man because he did not tell him what he wanted to hear, but, what thus saith the Lord God. They sent for Micaiah and the messengers told him what the other prophets had said, and tried to get him to change his message.

Micaiah said as the Lord speaketh that will I say. As the story goes on the man of God told them they would be scattered and defeated by Syria. Ahab got so mad that he sent the man of God to prison and fed him bread and water of affliction.

Ahab went on into battle and lost his life and the dogs licked his blood. There are three main reasons why a true man of God is hated. Let me say first before I go any further that some preachers are hated because of their own ignorance. You should not be arrogant and mean to the people you preach to. Some preachers I know think of themselves as lords and not servants.

When a preacher attacks people and uses his position to destroy people he will have a lot to answer for. No true man of God destroys the sheep. The first reason true men of God are hated is the truth he proclaims. He does not say what is popular but what saith the Lord.

This man preaches the Bible line upon line. Most people don’t mind the truth until it gets in their family. Then they want the preacher to change.

Secondly he is hated because of the rightousness he stands for. He stands for pure and holy things and loves the law of God. Lastly he is hated for the sin he stands against. Most churches today don't want a man to preach against sin.

God save us from modern day preaching. Lift up your voice like a trumpet and show the people their sin. We as men of God must always do this in love and back it up with scripture.

If you have a true man of God for a pastor love, pray, and honor that man.
